I just bought this lovely new Brompton 6 speed S-type model 5 weeks ago, in racing green.
I love it dearly but I have to sell it because I’ve just been offered a job in Australia! I need to leave by the 11 th of Jan, so I need to sell this fast, and I’m willing to make a loss on it. I’ll be selling it for the best offer I receive over $2000. That’s a great deal considering I paid nearly $2,700 SGD for it five weeks ago, and these bikes are well in demand in Singapore, the waiting list being 4 months in any shop.
It has only been ridden a few times and is in exceptional condition, almost new. It comes with extra accessories including front and rear lights, a wheel system to push it around whilst folded, a rack to put any groceries or bags on, ControlTech handlebar extensions letting you vary your grip for comfort, a portable tire pump and mud flaps to protect your clothing from any splatter.
Finely-engineered and elegant, all Bromptons are designed and built in the Brompton factory in London, England and are of excellent quality. The Brompton has a full-sized frame, made mainly of steel for strength and stiffness. The Brompton is a bike which rides superbly, is safe, agile and fast, yet folds easily and quickly into a highly-compact and portable package. The result is a vehicle that increases your sense of freedom and independence. The Brompton is truly personal transport you can take with you even when you’re not riding it. It’s welcome on all of Singapore’s MRT and bus systems, and can change the way you go about your daily routine.
The highly-efficient Brompton Wide Range hub with Brompton derailleur system gives six evenly-spaced gears. Control with the two triggers is easy and, with its low transmission losses and wide range, this multi-gear system is great for touring and for riding in hilly areas. The six gears are more than enough needed for any terrain I’ve encountered.
This Brompton has Kevlar brake cables and high-tensile-alloy handlebar. The S type is the lightest model. The grips, at about 935mm from the ground, are lower than on the M type, and 50mm further forward, giving a sporty riding position which complements the positive feel of these bikes. This bike feels like a normal bike when riding, not a small bike.
A key feature of the Brompton is the compactness and folding ability. With a little practice, this can be done in 10 - 20 seconds. The dimensions of the folded bike are: 585mm high x 545mm long x 270mm wide (22.2" x 21.5" x 10.6"). When folded, a Brompton stays locked together, making an extremely compact package little larger than its wheels. The folded package can be picked up without any risk that the bike will unfold - good when running for a train! Your Brompton will fit safely and snugly under your desk at work or in any small space near you. With no risk of theft, your Brompton will still be with you later, never to be stolen.
Tyred rollers with industrial bearings have been fitted to the rear rack, allowing the folded bike to be smoothly pushed/pulled and steered around with one hand quite easily.
The Brompton tyres are exceptionally free-running high-pressure tyres which are durable yet light and carry a low risk of punctures. They come with reflective sidewalls as standard, eliminating the need for reflectors on the wheel spokes.
These are amazing bikes of amazing quality, and will give a cyclist many good years of riding. The bike is great fun to ride and can add pleasure and functionality to your daily routine, or be enjoyed as a leisure cycle.
